The schedule says the thesis statement is due Wednesday, but since we already went over those in class last Monday, what is due Wednesday?

I remember you told us to bring our annotated bibliographies, but are we also supposed to have a rough draft of an outline and supporting quotes?

Hi Sarah,

We also looked at the revised syllabus (which is posted on the syllabus page), worked in class on the 12 tests of an arguable issue (from page 24 of Wood), and looked at the Rhetorical Precis (a link to a sample precis is posted on the Blogroll).

Nothing was collected - I will collect Reading Logs, 12 tests of an arguable issue, and Issue Proposals on Monday. Remember that Toulmin #2 and the optional extra credit are due tomorrow.

Also, review chapter 8 (Fallacies) for a possible quick quiz tomorrow.

I believe that the contest regulations mean that you CAN submit your Kite Runner Essay... but only IF you did not already submit it for the Kite Runner Essay Contest.

Other than that limitation on the same essay being submitted twice, I think that they mean to accept any major essay assignments from either class.

For example, many 1301 instructors assigned a LITERACY AUTOBIOGRAPHY and a SYNTHESIS ESSAY or READER-RESPONSE ESSAY. These would be good choices, as would any eligible Kite Runner Essay.

What exactly the subject of the essay contest? The only one I was aware of is for the Kite Runner, but this seems to be unassociated with it. ("Essays submitted to the fall 2007 Kite Runner essay contest are not eligible.")

Submitting "an essay written in ENGL 1301 or 1302" is too ambiguous.

Yay! I was in the middle of writing it when I decided to check the website. Less homework makes me happy. :)

I would like to know if I could fill in the time slot at 10:50 because I was sick the day you assigned the conference schedules. If not then please let me know when I can do it.

Thanks!
